The Prime Minister was welcomed at the event and was presented with a ceremonial bow and mace. This is his first visit to Gujarat after the success of India's Operation Sindoor against Pakistan.
PM Modi began his visit with a vibrant roadshow in Vadodara, where thousands of locals lined the streets to welcome him. The atmosphere was festive, with slogans being raised, tricolour flags being waved and flower petals being showered along the route.

Among those who greeted the PM were family members of Indian Army officer Colonel Sofia Qureshi, who paid tribute to her by showering flower petals during the roadshow. Colonel Qureshi came into the limelight during a press briefing on Operation Sindoor.

Prime Minister Modi will be on a two-day visit to Gujarat on May 26 and 27, where he will inaugurate several development projects in Dahod, Bhuj and Gandhinagar, including major initiatives by the Railways and various state government departments worth over Rs 24,000 crore.
Prime Minister Modi will inaugurate the Locomotive Manufacturing Shop at the Rolling Stock Workshop in Dahod, constructed by the Ministry of Railways at a cost of Rs 21,405 crore. An official release said that Prime Minister Modi will also dedicate to the nation the first 9000 HP locomotive engine developed under the 'Make in India' initiative.
Along with this, he will inaugurate railway projects worth Rs 2,287 crore, including doubling of Anand-Godhra, Mehsana-Palanpur and Rajkot-Hadamtiya railway lines, electrification of 107 km of Sabarmati-Botad railway line and gauge conversion of Kalol-Kadi-Katosan railway line. In this way, the total value of railway related works will be Rs 23,692 crore. The railway production unit in Dahod will employ 10,000 people and boost the local economy. The locomotive engines manufactured here will have the capacity to carry 4,600 tonnes of goods and the target is to manufacture about 1,200 engines in the next 10 years.
